As a student at Kalkaska High School, I have maintained a 3.8 or higher GPA all four years. I am an honors student and my current cumulative GPA is a 3.89.
Classes:
I have always challenged myself to take honors and a couple AP classes. I took AP World, AP Calculus, and duel enrolled in Baker College Pre Calculus. These classes really challenged me at times and pushed me harder than I had ever expected. AP World was by far the hardest class I had over all four years. Although it was extremely challenging it helped improve my reading tremendously. I believe taking these difficult classes really helped prepare me for college. My favorite classes have probably been Honors Chemistry, Novels, and Current Events. I also liked my math classes as well because it is my favorite subject. After High School:
After I graduate from high school I'm planning on attending the Great Lakes Culinary Institute. GLCI offers an associate program that would allow me to take culinary classes along with taking some basic classes at NMC. Cooking and baking is something I have always had a passion for. In recent years I have become more interested in baking rather than cooking. It has been a dream of mine to open my own bakery one day. |
Clubs:
National Honors Society Work together to better our community and volunteer our time to local events. Youth Advisory Council A combination of Forest Area and Kalkaska students that decide where thousands of dollars of grants should go in our community. Positivity Small group of students who promoted positiviy in the Middle School and tried to prevent bullying. Builders Club Club in Middle School that provided volunteer opportunities and worked throughout the school. |
Sports:
I've never been the most athletic but I have always enjoyed playing sports. Over the years I have played soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics and took a class of dance. Gymnastics was my favorite growing up and was a part of it for four years. During my first year of High School a group of students attempted to make a tennis team but it failed for several reasons. The biggest issues were that our "coach" never showed up and we didn't have nets. We continued to still meet three times a week and give it our best attempts but our dreams died off quickly. I still consider myself a tennis player although it's highly debatable.

My High School experience has been a memorable one. Although I'm looking forward to leaving High School behind and starting a life for myself, the past four years have been good to me. I've made some friends and have a lot of good memories. The highlights will remain the dances and the late night sport events.
